Gina C. Edwards, CPA

Gina has over 15 years accounting experience serving employers in the Kansas City and surrounding area. She has worked with a variety of businesses, ranging from hospitality, insurance, banking and real estate. Gina attended UMKC on the Chancellor Scholarship program, paying her way through College working full-time, along with participation as a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and the Cheerleading squad. As a Class of 2000, magna cum laude graduate of Park University in Parkville, Missouri, Gina passed the CPA exam in 2002. Gina began with FiveStar in 2000, as a staff accountant rising to the level of Controller for the past 4 years. Prior to her work at FiveStar, Gina was a member of Outback Steakhouse team in charge of opening and training staff for each new franchise. She was instrumental in the installation of proprietary software systems.

Gina is involved in the community, as an active member in good standing with the Parkville Chamber of Commerce, the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts. She is currently serving the Kansas City Chapter of the Missouri Society of CPA’s as their Secretary and is a member of the Accounting Education & Careers Committee. She holds licenses in both the States of Missouri and Kansas. When time allows, Gina enjoys leisure time with her friends and family, golfing, practicing Bikram Yoga and cheering on the KC Chiefs.

Mary J. Hayslett, CPA

Mary began her career in Iowa after graduating with honors from the University of Iowa, Iowa City. She offers 27 years of combined public accounting and industry experience. Mary passed the CPA exam in 1980, and enjoyed 7 years of public practice in accounting first with McGladrey, Hendrickson & Co., followed by four additional years with a small regional CPA firm in Minnesota. She was recruited by one of her clients, a Fortune 500 Publicly traded Corporation, in the capacity of Plant Controller for four years.

Early in her husband's career, numerous Corporate moves precipitated opportunity for Mary to expose herself to a variety of businesses, including Home Construction, Computax (a tax preparation software and database service), manufacturing, HUD financed real estate investment partnerships, real estate development and construction, hospitality and golf. Mary is a noted speaker at tax software training symposiums, published software instruction manuals, provided programming specs for Corporate Tax software and an instructor for community and college courses, "Accounting for Small Businesses". Through out Mary's career she has developed an expertise in the 'start-up' organizations. She knows what it takes to obtain the capital, build the business, establish the internal controls necessary to insure success and project the needs of the business going forward. She is most proud of her 10 years of service to FiveStar Lifestyles. She was hired as Controller at the inception of the company and served in her executive capacity as Chief Financial Officer as it grew to manage over 20 various companies. Mary continues to consult on tax matters for this client today.

Mary serves frequently as a volunteer to her community and church. She is active in business networking organizations, as well as a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Missouri Society of CPA's. Mary and her husband, Jeff, have been happily married for 32 years, raising two sons, in the Northland of Kansas City, Missouri.

Julie is a recent hire serving the needs of golf clubs in Kansas City. She has two years of golf industry experience, since becoming a CPA in 1993. She has quickly adapted to performing all the monthly reconciliations unique to Golf Club General Ledgers, as well as preparation of financial statements and generation of year-end tax statements. She also has over 10 years of experience in Construction Accounting, working with specialized software programs like Timberline. She has built her career on serving the needs of private companies’ internal financial reporting. She is a graduate of William Jewell College and a member of the Missouri Society of CPA’s.

Stacy has over 20 years of experience serving the bookkeeping and accounting needs of both the golf and hospitality industries. Stacy has worked the last seven years exclusively in the operation of Jonas Software applications for Golf Clubs. Her extensive hands-on experience with the day-to-day data entry is a valuable resource to the clients served by Edwards, Hayslett & Co.
